Choosing a Class

The age recommendations outlined for Kindermusik classes have been carefully constructed to best group children in an age and developmentally appropriate way. Therefore, it is important that your child be at least the minimum age by the start of the semester for the class in which you are enrolling. If you have concerns about your child’s success in a particular age range, I am happy to discuss your child’s needs and to work with you to place him in the class best suited for him.

Free Visits

At certain times throughout each session, I am happy to schedule a free visit in one of my classes. Please call for availability.

Register Early

Although you may join our classes at any time, please register early since class sizes are limited and many fill quickly. Registering at least 2 weeks before the semester begins also ensures that I will have your child’s materials for you at the first class. If you enroll after the semester begins, tuition can be pro-rated accordingly.

Enrollment Confirmation

A registration form and payment must be received before enrollment can be confirmed. You will receive a phone call, e-mail or mailed notice with two weeks to confirm registration.

Refunds

The cost of materials and a $15 processing fee are non-refundable. Tuition costs are refundable up to one week prior to the start of the session. I want you to try my class and love it! I will offer a pro-rated tuition refund if you decide to withdraw within ten days of the start of the session. After this, there are no refunds offered.

Make-up Classes

Classes will be made up in the event of teacher illness or inclement weather. I will notify you of the cancellation and the scheduled make-up day.

Non-Enrolled Siblings

Due to limited class sizes and the delicacy of the younger class settings, Village and Our Time classes can only accommodate non-enrolled siblings when the sibling is young enough to stay contented in a car carrier or stroller. Emergency exceptions are considered.

Parents of Orff Music and Movement

Please plan on bringing something to do and waiting for your child in the building. In the event that you child is sick, hurt, upset, or needs to use the bathroom, it is best for you to attend to their needs while I handle the rest of the class. If you must leave for some reason, please ask another parent to assist your child if necessary and let me know of your arrangement.

Making the Most of Music Class

Plan to arrive about 5-10 minutes early for class. Arriving a little before class provides time for your child to settle in to the musical environment as they prepare to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, or listening to music. We do request that toys, juice cups, and pacifiers be kept out of sight, and that snacks be finished prior to class. Be sure to dress comfortably.

During class, the most important thing you can do for your child is be an active and patient role model. It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. Don’t be discouraged - what a child is absorbing in class is often evidenced in the comfort of the home environment rather than in a certain level of participation in class. The understanding and consistency of the parent or caregiver in class and at home is key to facilitating musical learning and growth.

By the way, I love for parents to visit before or after class, but not during class time, please! J When you are an active, focused, enthusiastic participant in class activities, your child will model your actions and focus more fully. You and your child will enormously benefit from the Kindermusik experience, especially if you make active use of your At Home Materials. Frequent reinforcement at home throughout the week makes all the difference in a child’s comfort and participation in the classroom.
